Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bruiser is a 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier whose owner is no longer able to take care of him due to health problems. He’s a super friendly and affectionate little guy with typical JRT energy, although at 5 years old it’s a little toned down. But lately he hasn’t gotten the exercise he should be getting so he’s a little tubby and could stand to lose about 3 lbs. With the proper exercise and diet, that should be very do-able.
Bruiser LOVES everyone and has a wonderful disposition. He’s great both with kids and with other dogs. He was housebroken before unfortunate health circumstances overcame his humans, so he has been going in a designated spot since it’s hard for his caretaker to get him out for a walk. We think that since he was once in a routine of going potty outside, that he’ll re-learn it fairly quickly when he’s in a new home and on a schedule. He knows some commands such as “sit” and the “beg” position (as you can see from the photo). We were told that he has been in the presence of a cat who taught him who the boss was (not him!) and that he may now be very respectful of them.
Bruiser is looking for someone with a big heart because he has a heart murmur (grade 2-3 out of 6). He is not symptomatic and the vet doesn’t see any need for medication at this time.
We’re hoping to find a person, couple or family that will provide Bruiser regular exercise opportunities, be it in a fenced back yard or visits to a dog park. This little guy has loads of affection to shower on someone. Would you like to be on the receiving end?
Bruiser’s adoption fee of $125 includes: vet exam, heartworm test (neg), distemper combo vaccination, bordetella and rabies vaccinations, flea control, heartworm prevention, routine deworming, microchip, x-ray disc, neuter and microchip.
