Jorge's Story...
Hi my name is Jorge (Spanish for George), and I'm looking for my forever family.

I was picked up as a stray in Quebec, and taken to a high kill shelter where me and some of my other doggy friends there were scheduled to be euthanized. I was so scared in my cage and was hoping someone would rescue me! Luckily for me, Oxford County Animal Rescue networks with other rescues for dogs that are high priority and they were able to save me!

I was transported to the rescue by some amazing volunteers called the Freedom Drivers! They volunteer their time to transport rescue dogs and cats, so I had a long day on the road 14+ hours! But it was all worth it!

I'm still afraid of and dislike being touched or picked up. I get so scared, and I cower and try to hide. I can't help it. Even though I know most people are super nice and wouldn't hurt me, it's become a habit. Sometimes I get so scared I even pee.

I love to follow around the other doggies in my foster home, though they are all so much bigger than me! I have no problem telling them that I don't like them so close to my face by growling or snapping to let them know I'm uncomfortable. They are respectful of me when I make requests for more space so we all get along great!

I am mostly housetrained, though sometimes I leave a poop on the floor, but they are really small poops!

I'm looking for a family that will allow me to a lot of time to learn to trust them. If you're looking for a lapdog that likes to jump up on you for cuddles and affection, I'm sorry that just isn't me right now. I've been through too much, so it's hard for me to trust. I like to be a dog and hang out with my doggy buddies. I like to have a spot on the couch to myself, and love to burrow under the blankets, though I have to be careful because I'm only 4lbs and my foster brother is 180lbs so I'm afraid sometimes he might step on me!

I had my teeth cleaned when I was neutered, as they were really bad, and foster mom said they looked like green mold! They are pearly white now though, thanks to the vets at the clinic!

My new family will have to do regular teeth brushing (every other day), and feed me hard kibble and not soft food!

I have been vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, neutered, and dental cleaning done.
My adoption fee is: $350.00 which surely is not too much to pay for a fully vetted best friend!

Please apply online at

My foster mom says the rescue is very busy, and needs people to fill out an adoption application before they will call or respond to questions etc because they are all volunteers and don't have time to make 20+ phone calls a day to interested people. So, first step is adoption application. Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jorge, a Woodstock Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Woodstock, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Woodstock.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Woodstock already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Woodstock breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Woodstock paves the way for another one to be saved.
