Hi! My name is Kurby. The people that take care of me now found me at another shelter that didn’t have enough space for me. They’ve had me for a long time, which I don’t understand because I’m a very cute, sweet girl. I’m about seven years old but I still act like I’m a puppy. Playing fetch is my FAVORITE thing. I will chase anything you throw for me even if it lands in water. Actually, if you take me to the beach or the river to play fetch that’s even better because then I get to go swimming. I really like car rides too! All in all I’m a good girl, but there are a few things you need to know about me. I have had a difficult past, and especially now that I’m getting a little older I get scared when people try to touch my belly or my hips. I also like to play so much that sometimes I can be grouchy when it’s time to put away my toys and go home. If you are patient and loving with a home that doesn’t have any other pets or too many visitors, I’m sure I’d be a great addition to your family!!

About Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic and Ranch

About Our Shelter...

Furry Friends formerly Safe Harbor was founded in 1985 and was the second humane organization in the state of Florida to open a low-cost spay / neuter hospital. With between 7-10 million animals a year being killed in our nation’s shelters, Furry Friend's mission first and foremost has always been to reduce the over population of unwanted pets in our community. We do not believe that euthanasia is the answer to dealing with the pet over population crisis. Our charitable hospital offers low-cost spay / neuter services. We have sterilized over 75,000 animals over the past 24 years, preventing hundreds of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens from being born and thousands more from being needlessly destroyed.

A few years after establishing the charitable hospital, Furry Friends opened one of the only true no-kill shelters in South Florida. The shelter reserves it’s space for animals who have been abused, neglected, injured and abandoned. We are a charity surviving on donations alone, and our capacity is limited. For the welfare of the resident animals, we cannot exceed our capacity. Cages are not vacated by routine euthanasia. They become available only through adoption.
