Charles (CP)'s Story...
Charles is a handsome, 4 year old cat looking for a home to call his own. He was recently taken in by a woman who had him neutered in March. Charles is in great condition but tested FIV positive and shouldn’t have too much exposure to other cats without FIV. Charles loves attention and the company of humans. He will "talk" to you and likes to sleep next to you, but he’s not necessarily a lap cat. He loves chin and head rubs but prefers that you wouldn’t rub his belly (like most of us!). He allows you to carry him and hold him gently but he typically doesn’t stay that way for prolonged times. That being said, Charles was recently an outdoor cat so this indoor living is a new thing for him. However, he’s transitioned very well and is enjoying the indoor life. He prefers to have company with him.

Charles has responded well to the cats in his rescue home but their interaction has been limited with his FIV status. He may get along with other FIV positive cats. There is also a dog in the rescue home and while Charles has not responded aggressively toward the dog, he was defensive and tried to scratch the dog when the dog moved quickly towards him.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Charles (CP), a Carlisle Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Carlisle, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Carlisle.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Carlisle already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Carlisle breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Carlisle paves the way for another one to be saved.
