My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Frodo but my foster mom and dad nicknamed me Yolo (you only live once, yeah baby!). Like most Iggy adolescents, I have nearly boundless energy and will play with any person or dog that crosses my path. I am a muscular 11-12lb, 1.5-year-old grey boy with white on my feet and chest as well as a tiny drop on my neck. It looks like I got into paint but I really didn’t! I promise! Really!

At first I had some trouble with this whole potty training thing because I spent most of my previous life outside. I eventually caught on and have not had many mistakes since. I do best when I am on a schedule I can count on, and in my crate when left unattended.

I am actually a smart little guy. I’ll put myself in my kennel and sit there just by being asked. Mom has been really busy so we’ve not gotten to practice many more commands. She knows I’ll pick up whatever I am asked- fueled by making my humans happy (and a few yummy treats).

Unlike a lot of Iggies I am very independent. I’ll head off to sleep in the dog bed across the room to get some space, especially if it is in the sun. I keep an eye on everyone but I don’t have to be in the same room. I’m ok to go play by myself and frequently do. The Kong Wubba is my favorite because I can whip it over my head like someone threw it to me.

I love to play, play, play and play some more with my tiny Chihuahua siblings. It’s a good thing there are three of them. I just play with one until they get tired and then I am onto the next. When I am finally tuckered out, I go crash out with everyone on the couch under the blanket. Man, I love this whole cuddling thing! Especially if I get to be closest to my foster mom!

I came from a home with very small kids and they reported that I was great with children. I am VERY gentle with my mouth. I’d never accidentally hurt anyone, no way! I am not really motivated by food. Don’t get me wrong… I love a soft treats but I rarely overeat at meal times usually leaving something for later.

My foster mom says I am the sweetest little guy she’s ever had. She really wants to keep me forever but the condo we live in does not have a yard. :-( Thus, it’s really hard to get me all tuckered out. Sometimes, I just run circles around everyone else in the special dog yard. She really feels like a home with a securely fenced yard is the “bestest place ever” for me to be. It will help curb my energy and help me be a really good boy. It will also be best for me to have a playmate of comparable age and similar energy levels since I LOVE more than anything to be with my foster siblings.

If you think I am the right fit for your family, I’d love to meet you and yours!
