My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunny: 8 Year Old Black Male Lab Neutered 83 Pounds

Sunny was an owner surrender to the Lake County Shelter. His owner did not have a secure fence and worked full time, so Sunny would take himself for a couple of walks during the day. He would roam looking for company as he was very bored in the backyard. His owner was tired of looking for him and getting him out of the shelter so he chained Sunny to a large tree in the yard. Animal control came out to see Sunny and gave the owner a citation to fix the situation or surrender Sunny. The owner went out to his backyard and told them to take him, he was tired of his dog getting out.

The Lake County shelter contact GGLRR as not many people come to this shelter and Sunny was on the list to be euthanized. They wanted to find someone who would rescue him as he is such a sweet boy! GGLRR met Sunny and pulled him from the shelter without hestitation.

Sunny is 8 years old but he acts younger. He has wonderful energy and he just wants to be with people! He is a very happy boy and warms your heart the first time you meet and he looks up and gives you his big smile. Sunny was with his one owner his entire life, inside off and on, has wonderful manners and has a very sweet personality. He knows: sit, shake, down, takes treats easy, rides in the car well, not a barker, does not jump when meeting you and has excellent leash manners. (Why would you not adopt sweet Sunny?) Sunny grew up with kids, cats and other dogs. Is there anytime neative about Sunny? NO

Sunny would be great in a home where someone is around most of the day, he would be fine with kids 5 and older and he would be fine in a home with other dogs or cats. Sunny has had a full well check and he passed everything with flying colors. He is neutered, has his shots, heartworm negative, full blood panel, ears cleaned and he is microchipped.

Sunny is located in Petaluma.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
