My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Sweetie and I'm just that, a super sweet heart! You might not notice how goofy and affectionate I am right away because I'm kinda shy with new people. But ask my foster mom! She was really patient with me and now I snuggle with her every night and we have so much fun playing chase in the back yard. She also takes me for walks every day! At first I was scared of those too, but I really trust her, so now I get excited to explore on walks! My foster mom has noticed how brave I am getting so she's been taking me to lots of new places like her friends' houses and doggie play dates. She says I'm so brave that I'm ready for a forever home! Could you be the patient person to give me the forever home I have been waiting so long for? My love is worth the wait! I promise! (Just ask my foster mom.) Since moving to Minnesota, I have met SO MANY DOGS and it has been SO FUN! I love all dogs... big ones, little ones, young ones, old ones! My favorite thing to do is play chase with all my doggie friends. It would be super cool for me to have a doggie sibling in my forever home. The other dogs in my foster home really helped me to learn the ropes and to get comfortable and confident. It would also be great to have a fenced in yard because I'm not very comfortable on a leash until I trust the person holding it. A fence would give me time to trust my new family before venturing into a new neighborhood too. Okay, so I've shared some of my challenges. But guess what? I'm super well behaved! In fact, I'm house broken and I get free roam of the house when my mom is at work and I never chew on anything. My mom always tells me I'm so good! She thinks I'm super cute too. She is always posting about me on Facebook! Check out some pictures of me! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.735777525135.1073741873.135400165&type=1&l=4af23f3e50 Since you may not get to see my true colors right away, my foster mom put together some videos of me! I'm the adorable, smaller black dog. https://youtu.be/-XJNIDCjTXs, https://www.facebook.com/lindsey.clark.71/videos/746165886775/?l=1390559964387759610, https://www.facebook.com/lindsey.clark.71/videos/746058132715/?l=6235311797996322795, https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=729996679995&l=3105904459095351278, https://youtu.be/F9A4oN6Orcg, https://youtu.be/hX1dtTsh8vI, https://youtu.be/LWb5PxKKUKE, http://youtu.be/yJw4LMUPRq4 Well, that's everything I can think of to share about myself, but if you have any further questions about me or want to meet me, you should fill out a pre-adoption application at www.safehandsrescue.org! Oh wait! One more thing... I'm 1-2 years old and weigh about 35 pounds. Okay, bye now! Hope to hear from you soon!

Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday December 26, 2015, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
