My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~Adoption Fee Applies~

My name is Shadow …well thankfully it is now as the last name I had was pretty silly so my foster mama thought up a new and better name for me & I like it!

From what CAA Rescue can piece together is that in my short almost 5 year life I have had minimum 3 homes…. The last one only lasted a month as I was in an apartment and barking too much (apparently shelties bark… who knew?! ;) ) so after only a one month stay the lovely land lord kicked me out and that is how I now find myself in foster care with CAA Rescue

My previous family said I was good with kids, dogs and cats. Well my foster mama can vouch that so far I pay no attention to the cats and for the most part I am good with other dogs it is kind hard to figure me out right now as I was great with the neighbors pugalicious pugs and every other dog I have met; just me and foster mummy’s grey hound female are sort of weird together. I think she really does not like me and like a boy in a school yard I like her too much so I antagonize her and pull on her pig tails! It is not my fault she is very pretty!! :)

I am FAT! And so obviously not leash trained!! I think the first time I ever met a leash was with my foster mummy. But foster mama said I did pretty good on the walk and leash with all things considered. Foster mummy does not like to see doggies unhealthy so she has me on a healthy diet and now I am getting so much more exercise it is crazy! I am loving it!! We actually go for walks here!

I am house trained as I have done all my business outside since arriving into foster care
I travel well in the car so if you have road trips planned this summer I am your man!

I am very sweet and affectionate! I really just want a human of my very own! I really like my foster mama, she has been great with me but I know she is not mine forever. I really need someone to commit to me for the rest of my life. All this moving around from home to home to home and all anyone ever says is just how wonderful I am and how much they love me YET for the first 5 years of my life not one person could commit to loving me for always. I find that very sad because everyone should have at least one person in their life to love them wholly and completely, no? I just want that!
I have not been left alone for any extended period of time; just little short moments here and there were foster mama leaves me but I do have other friends in the home to keep me company

I am a Shetland and the job my breed has is to protect so please expect me to be vocal! Right now I am not really at foster mummy’s but we expect all that to change so no apartment life for me! I need a home
I am extremely intelligent and learn super fast! I have already figured out all the do’s and don’ts in foster care; it took me no time at all!

Please remember that my breed is also a herding dog so chase smaller animals is just in my nature so for this reason I should not be left off leash as I will run and take off herding all the cats, squirrels and everyone else in the neighborhood as you chase after me! Fun Times for me … not so sure about you! So a securely fenced in back yard will be a must for me this way I can safely run around and play without getting loose to herd people, cars, and everyone else in the hood!
I have a long a furry and beautiful coat. But please before writing in to meet me think about it… I am a shedder . I shed all year around and you will have to care properly for my coat otherwise it will get easily matted. So while YES I am one of the most handsome men you will ever meet, all the gorgeousness does come at a price! If you choose to adopt me you better have shares in vacuum bags ! If you do come to meet me remember now is Spring time and this is the time of year when I do shed the most but it is a good thing because this way you can never ever say, “no one told me how much he sheds!” you will see it for yourself!

I am looking for a family or a person to love me, to give me attention, to play with me, to walk me, to care for me and in return I promise I am the most loyal companion and friend. I will cherish you more than life itself
I am hoping that maybe my new friend might like to do agility classes with me or some kind of activity together. I am a working dog and I need mental stimulation to stay strong and happy and healthy … granted right now I am an umpa lumpa soooooo we will have to start off slow together as I slowly start to shed the pounds and build my muscles.

If you are looking for a best friend and promise to always love me; if you are reading my story and know that it is me that is missing in your life and that I am the one that can make your heart complete please email CAARescue@gmail.com and ask them for an application for adoption. It is a few questions and it will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete but once you do that we can meet… maybe go for a stroll together to see if we can be best friends for life
