MEET CHARLIE!
This BIG, smiley and handsome guy is named Charlie! He's an 80 lb. American Pit Bull Terrier who was surrendered to Philly's animal control shelter along with his Chihuahua friend because their owner could no longer care for their pets. After a brief stay at the shelter, Charlie won the hearts of the City of Elderly Love team! He's now safe in foster care and beginning his hunt for the perfect forever family!
Charlie was estimated to be around 13 when brought to the shelter, but because he is in such great shape for his age and size, we would guess that Charlie is a bit younger. He also has nice teeth and great energy! Like all aging dogs, he'd benefit from a routine joint supplement but is otherwise very healthy. Charlie has lived with dogs in his previous home and is currently living with them now! He is appropriate and friendly when meeting new canine friends! Charlie is also currently in foster care with cats with whom he pays no attention to - what a gentleman! We're not sure if Charlie had lived with children in his previous home, but based on his easy-going, social and affectionate personality, he'd likely do well in a home with older children. Charlie LOVES to meet new people and will drop his big 'ole head in your lap for love. He walks great on the leash despite his large stature and has great manners! This dog really is a gem - don't miss your chance at adopting him!
Charlie is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! He is current on vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped prior to going to his forever home. He is also heartworm negative.
