My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Requirements:
Fully fenced yard (physical, not invisible)
No children under 12 (she's afraid of them)
Quiet Atmosphere
Local Adoption Only (within 1 hr of Cleveland, preferably east or south side such as beachwood/ solon, etc. area)

april: turns 1 year old in Jan. 2016, 60lbs, shepherd mix.

April is a very special girl. Her and her siblings arrived from KY when they were 3 months old. April's personality has always been to be fearful of new and unfamiliar things. Despite our efforts in helping her to cope with the world, her demeanor has not changed.

At home (in a familiar environment), April is a total love bug!!! She LOVES to play with her foster siblings ..big and small.. and loves her humans just as much. She has a silly side where she just plops down and lays on her back with her legs in the air. Gravity takes over her lips, they fall back and make her look like she's smiling on her back.

She loves to cuddle with humans and dogs, sleep in funny positions, is crate-trained, house-trained and is a very smart (but suspicious) girl.

April has been in rescue since April 2015 and has grown from 20 lbs to 60 lbs (which should be her final weight now). Despite her lush hair, she is a minimal shedder. She loves to be outside and knows how to jump a 4 ft. fence. She never goes anywhere. I think she jumps it for fun. In a new home, however, she may run off until she is bonded. Just in case, she does wear a GPS tracker which she would wear for at least the first month at her new home. Better safe than sorry.

To reduce April's anxiety in a new home and to foster a bond, April may require multiple home visits prior to her staying permanently. (depending on the experience of the adopter) This will allow her new potential family to determine if they truly have the patience to wait for Apiril to feel comfortable without pressuring April into "liking them". She will come around in her own time with your encouragement. In the end, the effort is DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! She just needs that special family that is willing to put in the extra work and be patient!!

If you have room in your heart and home to continue showing April how great life can be, let us know.

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at http://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/Adopt.html

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
