My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I would like to introduce you to Cal. Cal is believed to be between 1.5 and 2 years old. His foster mom rescued him about 5 months ago. He was tied to a tree and was being starved and his owner was trying to toughen him up to be a good guard dog. He wasn't mean enough so he agreed to give him to his foster mom, Heather. Heather took him home and fattened him up (to his ideal weight, since he was so skinny) She worked on and mastered his basic obedience training with the help of Dynamic Dog Training. Cal is leash and cage reactive when he sees men only. This is likely from being tied to a tree and his previous owner being a male. So if he is kenneled or on a leash he will sometimes lunge and bark at some men and other dogs. However, if I open the kennel door, and let him out, he is fine. We have socialized him with a lot of dogs in our rescue and he does great with them. He immediately wants to play if they show interest in the same. If they are standoffish, then he is cautious. Sometimes he gets pretty excited to play with other dogs and skips over the "getting to know you period" He is learning quickly though. He is pretty good at following my directions. Cal can be a little shy when you first meets people but warms up quick. He seems to take to women very quick, and he seems to like some men, but others he will bark at. He just needs to meet more men, in a positive environment, and one day he will become much better . He is little rottie weighing in at only about 75 pounds, but as cute as can be, right??
His perfect owner would live in a house that has a secured back yard, who has time to spend with him, and loves going on long walks, jogs or hikes with him. They would have one or two friendly submissive dogs who are his same size or smaller, preferably a female, and submissive and playful and who is balanced enough to have patience with Cal and continue teaching him how to play like a good dog should. Cal has lived with small children and has done exceptionally well with them.
