My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Westie/Cairn mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great temperaments and snuggly ways. Carl is a great representative of his breeds..he's a very trustworthy guy who is very gentle with family members and other family pets. Being a happy-go-lucky and energetic pup, Carl requires a certain amount of exercise...therefore if a hike or even a leisurely walk is the order of the day - count him in! Carl would be so filled with joy to run through the trails and over the streams in the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to his favorite humans and canines.
Carl is an absolutely adorable and engaging dog who favors the coat and fun personality of the Cairn while taking on the very engaging qualities that make Westies one of the most popular breeds available today. Carl appears to be a non-shedding or very lightly shedding pup and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and matt-free. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Carl's coat will grow in with that wonderful feel of a truly healthy coat and will be far less likely to shed.
Carl's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. Carl is social and that means everyone he meets ultimately may becomes a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Carl's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Carl goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Carl is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terriers. At about 3 - 3.5 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left puppyish ways behind and young enough to have many active years ahead) and 21 lbs, he seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Carl in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Carl would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable pup. Carl doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs.
Carl will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 4/24. If interested in this kind guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
