My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BRUTUS / TUESDAY: 7 year old neutered chocolate male lab 80 Pounds

Tuesday was found as a stray in Clearlake and his family never came to look for him. Not too many people make it out to this shelter and the shelter staff recognized what a great dog Tuesday was so they called GGLRR to see if we could take him. GGLRR stepped up to evaluate him and get him out of the shelter.

This is what we know about Tuesday:

Hi, my name is Tuesday and yes I was picked up as a stray on Tuesday. I still can’t believe my family did not come looking for me. What did they expect; I was not neutered, they did not have a secure backyard and my job is to go out and find the females that want to fool around. The animal control officer loaded me up on a truck and then I was off to a pretty scary place – the shelter. Everyone kept saying what a love and that I was a very special boy. The shelter staff would play with me and soon found out that I had some training. I know: sit, shake, down, fetch – I LOVE THIS GAME and the really neat trick I know is sit pretty! (You can see this in one of the pictures, I will sit up on my hind legs for a treat. I will do about anything for a treat or for the opportunity to play ball.) At the shelter I would get out to play with other dogs and soon my best friend was Kevin. Kevin and I had a pact that we would help each other get adopted. Kevin and I heard that a wonderful organization was going to rescue us and take us to a nice boarding facility in Petaluma. The morning came for us to be loaded up in the transport van and before I knew what was happening, Kevin was not in the van. I heard them say Kevin found a wonderful home. Kevin was younger than me but I am much more handsome, have excellent manners, love to be with all people big and small and I have a bag full of tricks to show off. I love to go for car rides, love the water and I have ok leash manners. (I am a very quick learner and if you spend some time with me I will be walking by your side. I am fine on a leash when we meet other dogs and I am fine off the leash when I play with other dogs.) I am very clean in my kennel and I will give you much more love, companionship and happiness as I will be thankful for the family that decides to adopt me.

What Lab Rescue is looking for:

We would suggest a home for Tuesday that has the time for a dog, 1 walk per day and maybe some ball playing or beach swimming. Since Tuesday loves balls we suggest a home with older children. (He does get a little excited with treats. He will not jump up on you but he will not stop until he gets his treat. Tuesday has a wonderful foundation and we want a home that will continue with his training.

Tuesday is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. The shelter removed a growth from his leg and it was a fatty cyst. He is a very healthy boy! He is located in Benicia. (We are working on getting him to a foster home.)

Update from the foster mom:

Tuesday: what a GOOD BOY! Tuesday is just a bundle of love and joy. He came to my home and quickly adapted to his new environment. He learned to use the dog door the first day and no accidents at all. He’s a very loving, friendly, curious boy. He walks pretty well on leash and we’re working on not pulling. He is not dog reactive when on or off leash. He loves to swim and is trustworthy off leash. His tennis ball chewing was turning into quite the obsession so I replaced the tennis balls with strong chew toys and he’s just fine. We use a rubber stick to play fetch with and it’s his favorite thing. He’s full on energy, but not too much energy. He’s getting two 40 minute walks a day and lots of play time in the yard. HE gets along great with my lab with no issues at all. He is a wonderful dogs and will be a joy to his next forever family.

If you have the time for this wonderful boy and want him to be a part of your family, please contact Liz 415-613-6374 or liz@jobshopsf.com.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
