My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winnie is an approximately six mo. old 35 lb chow mix girl. She has a longer face and is probably mixed with a retriever or collie type dog.

Winnie was just a fluff of a pup when she was found in Shelby Farms. A vet tech asked us to take the pup and we placed her in a new foster home, where she ultimately did not receive the attention she needed and ended up back at the shelter. But now she is enjoying life in her new foster home. Winnie is house trained and knows "sit", "off" and "stay". She can be overly bossy with other dogs, and her ideal home may be as an only dog. She mostly does fine with the cat in her foster home. She is adoring and attached to her human, and seems to be fine with older kids. Her beautiful coat is so soft and glossy!

She is a good looking girl! Her adoption fee is $150

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
