Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is now Tessa and I am only around 1 year old. I am a healthy, happy and energetic beagle mix seeking an active forever home. I love to run and play chase in the backyard with my foster siblings (I’m really fast) so a home with another dog and fenced yard would be ideal. Though I weigh 32 pounds, all my exercise keeps me looking slender on my 16 inch frame. I could be the exercise partner for you or for your dog!
My current foster mom isn't sure how I will be around children, but with my gentle spirit and kind nature, she is thinking I would love a family with kids to run me ragged. I love playing with my toys especially the chew type (well I am still a bit of a pup), but I haven't gotten into anything not meant for me to play with. I share my toys well with others. Did I mention, I love to wrestle with my sibling pups, but for downtime I love watching out the window at all those passing by. I let them know I'm here, and for those with pups -- loudly at times. Oh and don't get me started on chasing squirrels! I settled in to my new surroundings pretty easily, needing only a few days to get used to it.
If I were a student, I'm pretty sure I would get A's because I learn fast. I got the doggie door down in just a day and since then no accidents in the house. I'm also doing well in the crate while mom is away from the house. Though when I hear her car drive in, I'm so excited I can't contain my tail. When she lets me out, I'll admit I'm just so happy to see her I'm jumping all over her to greet her (we are working on me keeping paws on the ground- but I'm a work in progress). When she is home, I have the run of the house with my siblings and I do really well. I sleep in a doggie bed in the bedroom, but admit to sneaking up on the bed whenever I can where I lie down and sleep through the night. I can walk on a leash, but often get excited and pull ahead so could probably benefit from a bit more training. I love to go for car rides and am really hoping my next trip will be with you to my forever home.
Please fill out an application to adopt on our website at www.HoustonBeagleRescue.org, and ask to meet me. I will make you very happy that you picked me to be the newest member of your pack! Because I am a mix, my adoption fee is reduced to $150.
