Meet adorable Peanut. Peanut is half Chihuahua and half Dachshund (often referred to as a "chiweenie"). He is 100% adorable.

Peanut was found as a stray. When his family could not be located, he came into our program, with the wish to find a forever home to love him. We are happy to be of service to this young man!

Peanut gets along great with large and small dogs. He is very energetic and very playful. He loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home. Peanut's favorite game is "chase"! His favorite buddy is his foster home is his 70 pound lab sister. They enjoy playing and even cuddling! Peanut also enjoys exploring in the yard, and is fascinated with sticks! He also enjoys playing with toys.

Peanut is shy when he first meets new people, but warms up fairly quickly. He is very loyal, and will follow his humans around the house always interested in what is happening around him. Peanut enjoys cuddling at night, and will get up on your lap to be close to you. He gets along equally well with both men and women.

Peanut is very smart. He is potty trained. He is crate trained and will peacefully sleep in his crate at night. Peanut really enjoys taking walks with his humans and we are currently training him to use good leash manners. He is learning very quickly.

Peanut is about 2 years old and is about 9 pounds, a perfect size. He will do great in a home with other dogs, and would probably prefer that so he has playmates. Due to his shy nature, we believe Peanut would do best in a home with older children (12 and older).

Peanut has his own Flicker account where you can see additional pictures of him. Check out his account at:

Peanut is neutered, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. He is ready to join a loving family - could that family be yours?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peanut, a Dallas Chihuahua/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Dachshund for sale in Dallas, or seeking a Chihuahua/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Dallas.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dallas already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dallas breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Dachshund breeders who help with Chihuahua/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dallas paves the way for another one to be saved.
