My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~adoption fee applies~

My name is Dakota and I like so many others was purchased from the pet store and while my new family started off with the best intentions 6 months ago they soon came to realize that they were too young, too busy with work and school and friends to ever really be home to give me everything I need to be a happy guy.
While I was sad to see them leave I am glad to be in foster care with CAA Rescue!

Right away from day one in foster care I got more energy out, playing with two friendly boxers, than I had done in the longest time. I was totally and completely pooped …… and with that we can let everyone know I am definitely dog friendly.

I am also living with kitties in foster care and like a typical terrier I like to chase them but it is all good and fun type of chase and play! But if you have a skittish kitty at home I probably won’t be the best match as I will probably make your cat even more nervous. So either a home with no cats or with very confident dog friendly kitties

My previous family never really took the time to house train me so now at 1 year of age my foster family is starting this training. I go outside frequently and am rewarded for doing business outside. For this reason while in training foster family is crating me when they are away from home or at night to sleep. I do crate fine… I am not to happy about being in it but I manage!

I have enough energy to fill up a room and make an awesome activity partner… don’t think these short little legs cannot keep up. I am young and have energy to burn! A fenced in back yard will be a must for me! This way I can run around safely and play along with continuing my ongoing house training
From the super uber duper long length of my claws it is obvious I am not used to leash walking but foster family is on that too.

Right now I am not too vocal but the breed I am tells everyone it will take no time for me to be the consummate watch dog for the neighborhood in no time; once I settle down and get used to the routines of life! I will gladly announce any one’s arrival into the home and also I am really good at letting you know when your neighbors come and go or take the trash out!
I like to gossip and watch everyone… there is no pebble that can fall in my neighborhood without me hearing about it first!

I am loyal as the Monday is long! My breed is just known for it – I love my humans and must always protect them from everyone and thing. It is one of my finest qualities!
I am no toy dog! I may be mini man but my personality is huge and I am convinced I am Doberman Pinscher sized …. I can tell you that the heart that lies within me definitely is!

I do live with two younger children in the home and am very friendly with them but these boys are doggie boys! They are very respectful of me and understand that I am a dog and not a toy. In turn I like hanging out with the little dudes as I think they are pretty awesome

So all this is to say that I am a cool dude who still has a ways to go to become the awesome canine citizen I was always meant to be!

I just really am looking for a family who has time for me and wants to spend time with me doing everything: walking, playing, training, snoozing on the couch … I excel at all of these things!

If you would like to meet me please write to CAAREscue@gmail.com they will ask you to fill out an application for adoption. Once they have it and see that we are a good match they will introduce you to my foster family so that we can make arrangements to meet and spend some time together
