My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mikey made the long trip down from northern Louisiana to Houston just to find himself a new family to love. This 5 y/o male is a handsome blue tick boy. He has a solid 23 pounds on his 13 inch frame.

Mikey is an easy boy to have around. He enjoys the company of the other beagles, but is not very playful. He rarely joins any of the beagle games. He prefers to watch from the side lines, Mikey is housebroken and he uses the dog door without problems. Though he is crate trained, Mikey is not a fan of being crated. Mikey is a quiet guy and it was thought that he would be fine in an apartment, but that is not the case. After a weekend trial, it was found that this quiet guy can bring the house down if left alone. No apartments for our Mikey! He can be very vocal about his dislike for being confined and alone. Mikey has excellent house manners and has never gotten into anything. Mikey sleeps through the night either on a dog bed in the bedroom or on the couch in the living room. Mikey was totally inexperienced with walking on a leash. He was a real treat to try and walk with him flailing around and acting the fool. He soon learned how fun it was to go on walks and his leash manners improved.

Mikey is a sweet and loving guy who is happy for any attention paid to him. He is rarely is demanding of your time when you are busy, but will paw at your hand if you are just sitting around with idle hands! Mikey is special needs because he has experienced a couple episodes of seizure activity and it was decided to keep him on the medication that is providing good control. He will do well as an only dog or with a quiet companion who just wants a buddy to hang out with! Mikey has done well with kids that have come to visit, but after getting his share of belly rubs; he left to take a nap! Mikey needs a family looking for a loyal companion to share their home with.
