My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that is dismal and quickly runs out of space. This is the situation that Tess was put into at 16 weeks old. It's not unusual to see opportunistic breeding with Labs and complementary breeds ...like Greyhounds. And if all doesn't go perfectly...out they go into the street or to a high-kill shelter. Such was the case with Tess. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Tess...she could see that her temperament was so loving and sweet that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Tess was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested - she was pronounced a healthy puppy with a very sweet and lovable personality. It turns out that Tess, at only 4 - 5 months old, is so wonderful and cooperative that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. She reported the following foster summary to us:\r\n \r\nThis is Tess, our foster puppy! She's just going on about 6 months old. If anyone is searching for a sweet, smart, mid sized family pet who's just about perfect...Tess is your girl. When I spend lots of time with Tess, I'm seeing a very lovable and sweet yellow lab with a touch of something else in her...greyhound or the like! Tess has a calm, mature, inquisitive and attentive way about her. She is house trained, low maintenance grooming, gets along with all 3 of our dogs, and all others in the dog park, uses the doggy door, and is crate trained. Tess walks on a leash heeling perfectly (this is huge when you want to enjoy nature hiking or walking with you best friend), she knows sit, down, stay and come. \r\nTess currently weighs about 30 lbs...very lean and athletic and beautiful to watch. She will probably mature to 40-45 lbs. Tess would love an active family with older children and adults. She is a moderate energy gal who loves to be active in the day and then cuddle at night. She is perfectly happy in the evenings to curl up in front of the couch, resting her head on your feet. She will make an incredible family pet for an active family or couple that has the time to allow her the opportunity to be with them and become a part of their family!\r\n\r\n\r\nThose that have spent time with Tess in Texas as well as in Colorado report the following about this very sweet dog:\r\nTess is absolutely a lovebug and very social and well-adjusted in every way. Her personality as been described as calm and always trying to please. Tess is sweet and so lovable while being active and playful in a very positive way. Tess as just about a perfect family companion that's made for Colorado. She will be overjoyed with hiking and loving the outdoors with her favorite people. Like most Lab/Greyhound mixes, Tessa is extremely loyal and very in love with those who are kind and and loving to her. She's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If Tess continues to be properly socialized, she will become a well-adjusted and devoted adult companion. If she is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-behaved dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Tess. What a perfect -sized girl to enjoy an active lifestyle of playing, hiking and snowshoeing (she'd love that) in the Colorado mountains. We'd also be thrilled with a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in everyday activities activities. \r\nTess is being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
