Rambo's Story...
Rambo is one tough little dude....not really! He is one of the sweetest little jack russell terriers you will ever meet. He was brought to the shelter with his mother and 4 siblings who have since been adopted. Their owner passed away and none of the family was able to take care of the dogs so they asked us to take them and find them new families. Rambo came to us and very poor shape. He could barely walk and seemed extremely depressed. The rescuer that went to the house to get the dogs said that all the other dogs were inside the house and Rambo was sitting by himself on the front porch all curled up in a ball. We suspect maybe he was just waiting for his owner to come back. We were told he was her favorite of all the dogs and she babied him more than the others. But she wasn't coming back and it was time for Rambo and his canine family to move on and start a new chapter in their lives. So, he and the other dogs got on the transport van and traveled from Harrisburg to Youngwood. All the other dogs appeared to be in good health and lively and chipper, as you might think a typical JRT would be. But not Rambo. He was very sad. We took him to the vet to have a neurological exam and check up. That started his road to recovery. We treated him with some medicine and some much needed TLC and he soon started to perk up and act like a normal dog. Upon further testing and examination, the vets diagnosed him with having problems in his back that were causing him to sway a little when he walked. We are now treating him with small doses of pain medicine and he is walking much better. Rambo is being fostered in a home with a mom and her two little boys. Rambo does fine around the children, although he follows mom everywhere. He likes to snooze and likes to go for short walks too. He even snuggles on the couch at bedtime. Rambo is not a barker and gets along okay with other dogs, although he would much rather live the rest of his life being an only dog or maybe just with one other small dog. He has had enough of sibling rivalry and wants to just chill and hang out.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rambo, a Youngwood Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Youngwood, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Youngwood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngwood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngwood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngwood paves the way for another one to be saved.
