Cashmere's Story...
Cashmere is a 1 year old neutered male Maltese/poodle type mix. He was found as a stray here in the City of Fairfax. He is a super happy, friendly, and playful little guy. He loves everybody, loves to cuddle, and loves belly rubs. Cashmere does however suffer from what is known as little white dog shaker syndrome. This is a condition most commonly found in small white dog breeds such as Maltese and West Highland terriers. This syndrome causes tremors in the dog's head, trunk and limbs. The cause is unknown. Cashmere has been responding well to steroids and is currently only exhibiting very few and very mild tremors. It is not certain yet whether he will need to remain on steroids his whole life or if he can eventually be weaned off of them. Dogs affected by this syndrome remain otherwise healthy and alert with normal muscle strength. Cashmere's personality and attitude do not seem at all affected by his condition. Cashmere is current on his vaccinations and has tested negative for heartworms. He is truly a sweetheart little boy!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cashmere, a Fairfax Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) breeders who help with Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
