"I begged of a star to throw me a beam or two Wished on a star and asked for a dream or two I looked for ev'ry loveliness, it all came true I wished on the moon for you." - 'I Wish On The Moon' by Cassandra Wilson
Just one look at that sweet face says it all.....take me home and love me forever. Cassie is a 1 year old red sable German Shepherd mix weighing 60 lbs. She is currently learning how to be a lady on leash (she is strong and does pull). She has likely not had any previous training but she has proven to be a very good student. Cassie, being the good student she is, has already mastered house and crate training. She is also pretty proud of her sit and shake moves. This gorgeous girl is willing to learn and would definitely benefit from some basic obedience classes to help her be the best girl she can possibly be. Cassie is smart, eager to please and treat oriented so her training potential will go as far as one wishes to take it.
Cassie very much enjoys playtime with her toys and humans, she also loves to relax with a good chew bone. Our sweet Cassie is very affectionate and is always ready for some snuggle time. Cassie does well with other dogs but is more comfortable and appreciative of proper introductions (sniff butt, bow, wag tail, make friends). She currently resides in a foster home with dogs, cats, and oh yeah...kids, so everything is a go for this girl. Cassie is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on all preventatives.
Cassie made it out of the shelter and has done very well in a family environment. Sweet affectionate Cassie's wish on a star and the moon are for a forever home with people who will give all the love and care she should have had all along. Are you the moon beam that can grant her that wish?

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
