My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This young lady has lost a lot of weight thanks to her foster mom Melanie that has taken a special interest In getting Ginger well and happy. You can tell she feels much better. I think she is now at 18 lb and so sweet...has a great personality..How did such a sweet Dachshund end up in such desperate condition? She was loved with food, until she was surrendered to an animal shelter, weighing 34.8 lbs. She had such sad eyes, and it was such an effort for her to just get up and walk. But, her KDR foster family has seen her fun loving personality emerge, little by little. As the weight reduces, she gets more frisky. She loves to mouth and play with the other dogs. Very affectionate. Meets stranger well. No aggressiveness at all. She, of course, gulps her food, and tries to steal the other bowls. She's a terrible begger, and it will take a commitment from the whole family to keep her on track with her weight loss. Her ideal weight should be 16 to 18 lbs. She currently weighs 28.1lbs. She eats high quality grain free dry with chicken. She is about 6 yrs old, microchipped, and had a complete dental in January. Her foster mom has lots of video to share by phone if you'd like to see her playing with kids and other dogs. She seems to know that she was "rescued", or least she is very happy and knows she has it good now! Ginger would do best with kids, and at least another dog who likes to play.
