Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you looking for an endearing, playful, juvenile delinquent?! Smokey Joe is your guy! We think he's about a year old, given how active and playful this sweet guy is. This young kitty has a lot of energy and gets into everything! Like many teenagers, he likes to hang around in the kitchen (winding around your ankles), follow you around when he wants attention, and push the boundaries of good manners. This kitty will greet you with a loud purr that can melt the coldest heart, and 30 seconds later exasperate you as he playfully attacks your ankles. His fur is so soft he is irresistible to pet and cuddle. He is still learning that human hands are for petting (and are not toys!) so he needs someone who can show him the difference between petting and playtime. He enjoys some lap time once tired out and is extremely social and likes to be where the humans are. We think this kitty would be perfect for a family or person that already has a playful young cat, or one that is home a lot. If you're looking for a lazy lap-cat, it could be several years before he adds that to his list of accomplishments. In the meantime, he's adorable and highly entertaining, and occasionally a teenaged brat! Meet him in his Lorton, VA foster home. Updated 6/8/15.
6/24/15-Update from Smokey Joe's foster mom- this little kitty has REALLY turned a corner in the past couple weeks! He's a different cat than the one who arrived. He has not tried to bite me (as a result of getting over-stimulated in play) in ages. Now he lets me pet him calmly and he has started napping on my chest. He will sometimes stretch out to his full length on the floor and let me stroke him. This was totally out of the question 6 weeks ago--he was just too full of himself and hyperactive !
