Introducing Cher! Just look at these ears!! They are a joy to look at and silky smooth to the touch. You won’t be able to keep your hands off them! Cher is a Redbone Coonhound mix who lives life through her nose. Being true to the hound breed, she sniffs everything. She’s very sweet and affectionate, loves people and enjoys being petted. She would do great in a home that has the time to give her plenty of exercise. NO cats or other small animals please; one other dog of her own size would be okay. Since she comes from a long line of hunting dogs, it’s important that her yard has a good fence and plenty of space where she can get plenty of exercise and stimulation. Coonhounds are born to sniff out game so Cher’s nose will take her far afield if she gets out of her yard so she should be kept on a leash any time she’s in an unconfined area outdoors. She gets a bit grumpy towards other dogs when they’re around her food so she would have to be fed separately and taught proper respect. You’ll see in the pictures that she has a 1” fatty tumor on her front left elbow. This is cosmetic only. Cher’s estimated year of birth is 2007-08 and her weight is around 80 lbs. About Smiling Dog Farms - CT Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Smiling Dog Farms is a sanctuary for the forgotten, neglected and rejected. Our dogs come from shelters and rescues all across America. All dogs that are deemed adoptable are up to date on shots, spayed or neutered, and on heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the northeastern states.

Our sanctuary dogs that have been deemed “unadoptable” because they have bitten someone, or have other behavioral challenges, have a safe home with us for their lifetime and are also up to date on shots, sterilized and on heartworm prevention.

Our Adoption Process...

Most of the dogs that come to our Sanctuary have had a scary background of being left to die in animal shelters across the country. Understandably, we are very careful in our approving our adoptions as we are dedicated to ensuring that this dogs truly go to a "forever" home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.
