My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog's fosterhome is located in: Albany, New York

Maxwell Smart is a lovable 2-3 year old boy who weighs 18-20 pounds. Max is housebroken and can be left loose in the house during the day without any problems, as he is not destructive or loud. Max does have issues with recall and door darting, which his fostermom is working on, but he would benefit from an obedience class with his new owners so they can bond and work on this issue together. Max loves to be with his people and is very affectionate with adults, but he thinks he is higher ranking than small children so has a tendency to "correct" them and therefore should not go to a home with youngsters. He also should not be in a home with small pets, as he does have a high prey drive. Max doesn't like to be picked up, and will submissively urinate and jump out of your arms, but he will jump up on his own terms. If you can appreciate and enjoy Maxwell's "smarts," please make him a member of your family.

OUR ADOPTION FEE is $150 ($175 for puppies younger than 12 months; $200 for American Hairless Terriers).

IS THIS DOG AVAILABLE? If the bio above doesn't say that there's an adoption pending, then YES! he or she IS available. As soon as we approve an application, we'll post it, so you will NOT get more current info by emailing us to ask if the dog is available. To "get in line" to adopt or get more details, you MUST CLICK HERE to submit an Adoption Application.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS DOG?
The email address on this page is for website-related issues ONLY. For answers to specific questions about a particular dog, you MUST submit an Adoption Application! That is the only way to access the fosterparent for this particular dog, who is the only person who can answer specifics about this dog's personality or geographic location. (Our dogs are located in private fosterhomes around the state, and we do not provide those addresses on the Internet or to casual inquiries, and you cannot just "drop by" to see a dog without prearranging it with the fosterhome.) Because we are an all-volunteer organization and receive a very high volume of inquiries, we can only respond personally to people who have demonstrated a serious interest in adoption by filling out our application.
