Oscar's Story...
Have you ever felt you just lost your best friend? For many of our shelter animals that is just what happens as they say goodbye to their owner in our lobby. Often not only is the owner shedding tears but the staff is too as this last farewell plays out with a frantic dog trying to comfort their owner one last time.

Angelica, Lucy and Oscar have all lost their owner who has been evicted from his home and may be on the streets tonight. His only concern was for his dogs though, and finding them wonderful homes was his wish.

Angelica and Oscar are 7 year old litter mates, and Lucy is their 12 year old mom. We know it is unlikely that we can find a home that can take on all 3 dogs, but if we can find 3 great homes their Dad will understand. These musketeers are adorable.
Due to finances, the dogs have not seen a vet in several years. but will soon to be updated on all care and will be ready for new homes.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/dog_applications/new. Oscar's adoption fee is $150. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative.

With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.

All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have one employee. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Oscar, a Medfield Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Medfield, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Medfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Medfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Medfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Medfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
