My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please meet Tillie! She is a 5 year old, 63 pound, brindle and white English bulldog. Tillie came into our care as an owner surrender, after her owner - who wanted to breed her - learned that bulldogs have to have C-sections. They decided she was too high maintenance and left her at the groomer's shop. The groomer then contacted us for help.

Tillie is a sweet girl with a moderate energy level. She loves to nap, but can be pretty playful when she wants to. If the kids in the home start running around, she likes to run right along with them! Tillie also enjoys roaming around the house. In regards to kids, Tillie would do best with kids 8 years and older. She does best with kids that are not in her face and overly hyper… children that know how to respect dogs would be the best. Tillie does enjoy playing with the kids with toys, but she does get her fill of play-time… When she’s done, she tends to be mouthy and will move away from them. Tillie is a nosey little lady! Sometimes she will bulldoze her way through people, which is another reason for requesting older children.

Tillie hasn’t spent much time around cats, but did encounter one at the vet’s office. She really did not pay any attention to it and ignored it, so she could do okay with cats in the home. Tillie does, however, need to be the only dog in the home - she tends to growl and lunge at other dogs, so she should not be loose around other dogs (just in case). Tillie seems like little dogs LESS than bigger dogs.

Tillie loves getting hugs and kisses, but will let you know when she's had enough. She wants to be at your side at all times, and will follow you wherever you go. Sometimes Tillie will give off a “low growl”, but this is not aggressive at all – it usually means that she wants something or needs your attention. Tillie enjoys short walks and rides in the car. When visitors come to the house she will bark and wants to jump on them, so she will need some work on that. Tillie has never once jumped on her fosters or anyone living in the household, or on anyone outside of the home. She loves all the attention she gets from passersby who stop and ask if they can pet her. She's a big girl with quite the personality!

Tillie has never shown signs of aggression around food. She will let you put your hand near her dish to give her another scoop of food without incident, and she will let you take her bowl away from her. Sometimes if Tillie has a toy, she may growl if you try taking it… usually she will move away and go to another spot to be alone. She has never snapped at anyone else while trying to take something from her.

Tillie does have some seasonal allergies. She can be given Benadryl to help with the itchiness. Her fosters family also put her on a great food that seems to be helping her skin and coat a lot, so we ask that she stay on this food (Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Venision) . Overall she is a very healthy bulldog, she just needs a little maintenance for her allergies… but honestly, what bulldog doesn’t?  The vet recommends Phytovet CK wipes daily for under paws, her vulva, and her tear straining/drainage on sides of her face.

Tillie is spayed, hose trained, and up to date on her shots. Please consider opening up your heart and giving Tillie her loving furever home!
