Dilly's Story...
Dilly is a small 2 y/o girl who was found stray south of Houston. She was still producing milk so had been nursing a litter not long beforehand. No one knows what happened to the pups, but Dilly was a very skinny 13 pounds when found! She is up to 17 pounds and has a ways to go before her 14 inch frame fills out.

Dilly is a confident member of her pack of foster siblings. She enjoys chasing through the yard after scents and squirrels. She really does well wrestling with the big boys and takes it in stride if they get a little rough. Dilly was already house trained and able to use a dog door. She is crate trained and will stay in a crate quietly, but has excellent house manners, so only goes in a meal times. She can be a slow eater and needs the protection from the pigs in the pack!

Dilly craves human attention. At first she wouldn’t let her foster Mom out of her sight. She is feeling more secure now, but will always want a home with someone who likes having a snuggle bunny around! She is slow to warm up to men and will bark when they come into a room, but has never growled or snapped. She will come for pets and seems to make friends, but will still bark again when her foster Dad returns after a short trip to a different room! We call her Silly Dilly, but wonder what kind of life she had before coming to Houston Beagle for a new home. If you have lots of love to give, please apply today and give Dilly a second chance at the good life!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dilly, a Houston Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Houston, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
