My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Archie!
Archie is a handsome, 16-pound Chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix. He's about 8 years old, but you would never guess it. He acts and looks years younger! He still likes to play with squeaky toys, have a good game of chase or a wrestle match with his dog friends. With his humans, he really likes when they toss a light weight blanket over him and play "where's Archie?"

He is a very devoted, loving little guy that is happiest when he is with his people. If you go upstairs he likes to follow you up there. If you go into the garage or basement he most likely will follow you and be nearby...just look down! :)

This little sweetie is a real cuddle- and snuggle-bug. One of his favorite things to do is snuggle right up next to you and watch TV or relax while you read.

If you offer Archie a peanut butter filled kong or another one of his favorite treats, he willingly goes into his kennel. However, he wouldn't fare well being kenneled for longer than 5 hours a day OR on a daily basis. If daily kenneling is needed, it should be for shorter lengths of time (i.e. 2 hours).

Since Archie does suffer from a touch of separation anxiety he would do best with a family that is home more often than not, or someone who can take him to work with them or to doggie daycare (which he LOVES!) when they're away from home.

A calm, low-traffic household is what Archie prefers. A family without young or active kids would be ideal for him. He would be fine as an only dog or with a 2nd dog as long the original dog isn't too big or too energetic.

Archie listens very well and is a smart little guy. He knows sit, come, off, out, go sleepy and definitely has a natural potential to learn more. He aims to please!

He is housetrained, walks well on a leash (and likes to go for walks), sleeps through the night and enjoys car rides.

Once you've gained Archie's trust, you've gained a loyal companion and friend for life. He is a sweet and loving little guy looking for his forever home. Could it be yours?

Archie’s adoption fee is $100 and he is being fostered in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
