Sergent's Story...

Sergeant is a handsome, male German Shepherd  Dog.  He will be a large, substantial dog once he gains his full weight.  He recently weighed in at 78 pounds, but he needs some "groceries" to put some weight on.  Our best guess is that he's around 4 years old -- an adult in his prime.

Sergeant is adjusting well to living inside his foster home. He gets along with everyone he meets (human adults and kids, and other dogs). He loves to run and play with another male dog in his foster home.  He's also very able to settle down with his family when it's "quiet time."

Sergeant loves being with his people.  He is comfortable relaxing in his crate, but he prefers to have company.  He's working on learning to relax when left alone in his crate.

He walks nicely on a leash and will make a terrific walking companion.  Since he loves treats and is a very smart dog, we expect he'll be a lot of fun to take through an obedience class.

A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to adopt. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sergent, a Baton Rouge German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
