Remy is a two year old gorgeous special needs Sheltie. He weighs 46# and is blind in his right eye (but sees out of his left eye) and is also deaf. In spite of all this he loves people very much. Remy completed a 30 day training program which has helped him learn boundaries, and hand signals for sit, down & stay. We and his trainer believe Remy would be best in a home with no other dogs, cats, or young children. His ideal home would be a retired couple, as he loves to be with his family. He also travels very well.

Remy has a great foster Mom who has attended training sessions and we will arrange for a new adopter to attend a session as well to learn more about Remy's special needs if interested. Because of the training follow-up sessions, we want to adopt Remy in Texas. It would normally cost $250 to adopt Remy, but a very special supporter has donated half ($125) of Remy's adoption fee to the family that makes him their own!

Remy is a great dog wishing and hoping for his forever home! Please apply for Remy at www.freedomcollierescue.org

About Freedom Collie Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Freedom Collie Rescue is based on these three qualities - compassion, honesty and dedication. We are a newly formed Collie Rescue organization, with over 8 years experience as board members and volunteers with Collie rescue in the greater Houston area. In addition, our Adviser has over 10 years of experience in showing the Collie breed, and many years in rescue. We are incorporated in the state of Texas, and are recognized as a non-profit organization.

Freedom Collie Rescue will rescue Collies in danger of being euthanized at area shelters/pounds, find new homes for Collies that have been abandoned or relinquished by their owners, provide necessary veterinary care for rescued Collies, and place rescued Collies into permanent adoptive homes. Your adopted collie will be spayed or neutered, be up-to-date on all required vaccinations, be on preventative heart worm medication, and will be micro-chipped.

Our Adoption Process...

All adopters must fill out an adoption application. We do vet checks and a home visit. We adopt to indoor only homes. All of our collies are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. All collies are completed vetted, all vaccinations are up-to-date, they are micro-chipped and if needed, they are treated for heart worm disease and are given a dental. Our donation fees are:

$300.00 donation for a puppy under 12 months ***
$250.00 donation for an adult age 1-9
$125.00 donation for an adult age 10+

*** FCR will require spay/neuter surgery to be performed when puppy reaches 6 months of age. You may choose to take the Collie to an FCR approved veterinarian, where fees will be paid by FCR. If you would prefer to take the Collie to your own veterinarian, FCR will reimburse you, upon proof of payment made to your own vet, for an amount equal to rescue rate at FCR vet.
