My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable little doll baby is named Baby Girl. She is a 6 pound, 3-5 year old longhaired Dachshund that was hit in the head by something or some body, knocking her out and then they left her for dead. Baby Girl was found and taken to Animal Control where the on-duty vet administered drugs to control the swelling of Baby Girl's brain. When she regained consciousness Baby Girl was paralyzed, and could only lift her head a fraction of an inch.

The doctor gave Baby Girl a number of medications to ease her pain and support life until the brain swelling subsided, and after two weeks, Baby Girl was able to walk and regain use of her legs. At this point, Baby Girl still has a head tilt that may be permanent, or it may go away in another few weeks as her recovery continues.

Baby Girl is initiallyshy withstrangers, but she quickly warms up, and loves to be held and cuddled. When she approaches you, she will come up to you and lay flat on the ground, and then drawl closer. She will follow her person around the house, and is doing well on going potty outside. Because she has had a significant trauma in her life, we don't recommend her for anyone with children under age 10. Small kids are noisy, erratic and will scare Baby Girl.

Baby Girl needs a loving and nurturing owner who will show her kindness and love, and in return she will be devoted to that person. Baby Girl is good with cats, and is OK with other dogs after she gets to know them.

Baby Girl has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $250.00.
