Poncho's Story...
Awesome Poncho looks like a Border Terrier and Golden Retriever mix and he is ready to delight a new family. His prior owner estimated that he was 2 years old but he has sparkly white teeth and seems closer to 1 to us. He and another sweet dog (a 6 month old puppy) lived with their homeless female owner in a tent and she entrusted us to find them both great new homes.

Handsome Poncho with his cheerful, scruffy face is a wonderful boy who should fit in well with most any family. He is happy, super affectionate and good with dogs, cats and kids according to his prior owner. He enjoys playing with the other dogs here.

He adores all the attention he can get and loves to be hugged and cuddled. He makes new friends easily and will jump straight up to give you a big kiss (we are working on that). He is great with being handled and is a confident, yet submissive kind of boy.

Poncho LOVES toys and likes to fetch them for you and pull all of the toys out of his toy basket, playing with each one like it is the best thing ever. He gives back his toys easily and does not seem to be possessive.

Poncho is energetic and ready for lots of fun, but he is a fairly mellow dog for a youngster and should be easy to live with. He is just as happy cuddling and rolling around in your arms as he is playing with his toys.

He adores wrestling and being silly with the companion he came with and he does feel a bit lonely without a doggie companion so he will be happiest when adopted into a household with another playful dog. He tends to be the more submissive one in doggie play groups. He loves pulling on ropes and such with another dog but will release a shared toy if the other dog decides it wants the toy to itself.

Poncho is about 25 pounds (we still need to get an actual weight). He enjoys car rides but wants to sit on a lap (the best seat in the car!). He also enjoys leash walks and will make a great walking partner on adventures.

This loving guy is ready to bring joy to his new family. Come meet him today and bring your friendly pup to see if they can be new best friends.

Poncho is heartworm positive since his owner could not afford preventative, but he feels fabulous and we have him on preventative now which will gently get rid of them. He can be adopted and come home with you now and all you will need to do is continue the same inexpensive monthly pill that all pups should be taking routinely.

Adoption donation $175.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Poncho, a High Point Border Terrier/Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Terrier/Golden Retriever for sale in High Point, or seeking a Border Terrier/Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in High Point.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in High Point already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a High Point breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Terrier/Golden Retriever breeders who help with Border Terrier/Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in High Point paves the way for another one to be saved.
