My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lacey is such a lovebug...it's hard to picture her in a scary situation in Texas. But she was...being euthanized for a lack of shelter space (even for those with the greatest of temperaments) was what her future held if Farfel's Texas rescuers didn't step in. Lacey was gathered up and quickly taken away from her compromising life...we knew that we could help Lacey get to safety and to a great permanent home in Colorado. It was completely understandable to us that Lacey was frightened and couldn't do much more than snuggle against her rescuer. We're sure she understood that she was finally on her way to safety. At just about 18 - 24 months old and 28 lbs, Lacey was young enough to quickly gather her strength and begin the process of leaving her sad life behind. She was very fortunate to go into a wonderful and completely loving foster home. They understood that it was their fulfilling job to get Lacey ready for her new life. They've worked with her on her house skills, socialization and trust. Lacey may appear shy at first, but she comes out of her shell quickly and grows to love and trust those that love her. Lacey ultimately loves to play, having quickly learned life can be so much fun. We envision her in a mellow, but energetic, home. It would be great to find a family with a retired or working out of the home couple so Lacey would have the company she cherishes. Lacey enjoys other gentle dogs, so a home with a respectful companion dog would be just perfect! She enjoys afternoon walks or hikes along beautiful Colorado trails, hanging out on the couch or riding shotgun for errands or visits with friends. There's no more devoted best friend than Lacey. Her foster said... We've never enjoyed a foster as much as we do Lacey. Her little doggy smile lights up a room. How she enjoys every moment of life is a delight to us!
Lacey appears to be a non-shedding girl (or lightly shedding-hard to determine until she loses her sad shelter coat) and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing to keep her gorgeous chestnut coat healthy and matt-free. Lacey has been completely vetted and temperament tested to fulfill our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-adjusted pups.
Lacey will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 5/15/15. If interested in this sweet and very endearing companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
