My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Max came to CRCS all the way from Iran. He is a sweet boy with a very loving and gentle disposition to those he knows and trusts. We don't know much about his early years, but we do know he was shot in the spine 3 times by his owner after letting a robber go. Max was found 3 days later in an alley, wounded and struggling to survive. He was taken to a shelter by a nearby store owner. One of the bullets was removed while in Iran, two still remain in his body.

Max has a neurological condition in his back legs. The more he uses them however, the better he walks and the better he feels. Max really enjoys taking walks here at the center and loves his off-leash time in the yard. Once he is comfortable with his people and home, he leaps and pounces like a puppy. Max is incredibly gentle with other animals and loves being in their company. He would benefit from living with other dogs and cats. He is extremely loving towards every dog, cat, lizard, bird we've introduced him to, big and small.

Due to his past experiences with people, Max is unable to do a quick adoption. He is looking to get to know you and your home environment over time, build trust with you and create a bond before he makes the adoption official. His ideal environment is quiet and spacious with a yard and a human that can be with him most of the day. Max does have difficulty with noises or objects that may remind him of his trying past and needs to be introduced to all new situations and people slowly. Once he opens his heart, he gives 100% and is one of the most affectionate and loyal dogs you've ever met. He is a beautiful soul, inside and out. He would love to help you in the yard and then come inside to lay by your side while you work or watch your favorite show. Due to the weakness in his back legs, Max needs to be placed with calm dogs that won't jump on him and will need to be in an adult only home. He is a wise soul with a heart of gold and a story to tell. The amount of love he gives and the way in which he looks you in the eye is an absolute testament to his mental strength and ability to forgive. Age 7 years. 84 lbs.
