My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update & new photos: Check out Claire's silly side. She makes everyone laugh all the time with her tiny little self. She is surrounded by big dogs who love her and her new buddy is the cat.

Her Maine foster mom tells us that after a few days of being skittish and worried she is doing WONDERFUL!!! She is happy, bouncy, and inquisitive, and she comes running for attention and no longer tries to avoid contact. She listens well for a beagle and is learning the boundaries. It'll make you smile to see (and hear!) hear her tail thumping! She LOVES to be outside and a fenced yard would be great for her. She's a good girl, and tries hard to please. She is learning to sit and wait while for her food bowl to be put down down and to be given the "okay" to eat. She rarely barks, usually just when she's playing with a canine sibling. Claire may whine if crated and left alone. She also has to be watched closely for signs to go out, as sometimes they are subtle. Claire has been great with the three cats in her foster home. She isn't a dog that can be crated or left alone in a house all day while someone is at work. She is eager to please and very sweet, but also a busy girl who needs a way to channel her energy. She needs an owner who is tolerant of the Beagle breed, will keep a close eye on here, and make her tow the line, because she is a typical Beagle: smart and attentive, but will test the boundaries and if you give her an inch, she'll take three miles. Anyone who might visit shouldn't expect her to warm up to them at the first meeting, it takes her a couple of days. But she jumps right into her foster mom's lap now and curls up and promptly for a nap. Once she feels safe, she is very cuddly.

We’re so proud of sweetie Claire and how well she is doing!

History: Claire is an 8-9 month old beagle who was tied up outside a vet's office when they arrived in the morning. Our southern rescue partners took her in and she has been doing great. She was nervous at first, and is still nervous around children. She absolutely loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home and once she knows you are trustworthy she becomes a snuggle buddy. We will only consider families for Claire with no kids or older kids, and a home that has at least one other dog is a must. She is the most comfortable when her doggy friends make the first assessment of new humans and then she feels safer joining them in a greeting.

To apply to adopt this dog, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, www.luckypuprescue.org, or request an application via email, luckypuprescue@yahoo.com.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!
