My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

August 2016: Katie is just over one year old and is a great medium size. Her mom is a yellow lab and dad is unknown. Katie had been adopted but was nervous with the family's dad and young daughter. She is back with her former foster family now and doing great after some initial nerves.

Katie does best in a situation with another confident dog to lead the way. She is energetic, but really enjoys relaxing on the couch or laying on the deck in the sun once she is tired out. She gets very excited with cats and sometimes needs to be distracted to give them space. We would recommend a feline-free home for her. She has met a few babies and toddlers and has done well with them, but because of her shyness we would recommend older kids only or an adult-only home. Katie is house trained and crate trained and easily goes into her crate. Katie loves to eat and is very food motivated.

She is a very smart girl and has come a long way since being in Maine. She definitely wants to please her humans and looks to them for guidance in stressful situations. She is so sweet and loyal once she gets to know you. She has even been going with one of our volunteers on weekends to visit some nursing home residents and she is learning by following the lead of the other dog visitors. She also recently spent some time exploring Portland with her foster family and did really well, even letting people pet her.

To learn more about Lucky Pup Rescue, please visit our website: www.luckypuprescue.org. If you have interest in any of our dogs, please fill out the application and we'll work with you to find a great match for your family: http://www.luckypuprescue.org/#!adoption-application/c1aw8.

Please note, we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed, they are cared for in our network of wonderful foster homes throughout New England. If you find a dog you would like to meet, our expectation is that, once approved, you will travel to meet the dog in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
