Theo is a four year old sweetheart who has graduated training school and is ready for his new family. Theo spent the first part of his life living alone outside and separate from his people. When we met Theo, he showed us right away that he loved people and their attention, but was totally non-responsive to commands. We spent months getting him used to being in the house and becoming comfortable with all the normal indoor sights, smells, and sounds. We realized that he needed extra help when it came to listening so we enrolled him in a Board and Train program with Brian Bergford at Altitude Dog Training. Theo spent 4 weeks working on his social skills, manners, and - of course - obedience training. We are happy to say that Theo has made some amazing progress.

If you adopt Theo, we are asking that you participate in at least one private session with Brian to learn how to communicate with Theo. Brian will do that session at a discounted rate of $75 at his center, Uptown Dog, which is located in Longmont. If additional follow up is needed, Brian can provide in-home training to help Theo settle into your home and to ensure the two of you are on the path to a great relationship. Theo comes with his training equipment of approximately $200 but that will be included in his adoption fee of $300

By the way, did we mention that he is a total love. Theo is affectionate, loves attention, and very much enjoys playing fetch, going on walks, and taking car rides. We are looking for folks who have GSD experience, so no first time dog owners, please. Theo needs to be the only pet in your home as he is a dominate boy and he needs a family that will go the extra mile to ensure his and other animals safety when out in public with dogs that want to get in his face. Theo can jump a six foot fence and should never be left outside unattended - this is exactly how he managed to escape from his previous home. A home with no children is prefered as he often forgets how big he is and can knock them down. If you are looking for a wonderful boy to share your life and home with, please consider Theo as your next companion. He truly is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet

Our Adoption Process...

Adopting a German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies Dog

We would like to thank you for visiting our website and considering one of our adoptable dogs to become your new family member. All of our dogs have been tossed aside for various reasons and our goal is to find them one last home where they can live out the rest of their lives with love and happiness. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we hope to be able to rescue many dogs every year. We place our dogs in a daycare facility so we can observe their social behavior and then into a foster home to learn house manners and teach them basic obedience. After we get to know our dogs we interview each candidate to find the right home that will fit each dog’s personality and needs. We will provide the necessary vet care, bring them up-to-date on vaccinations as well as spay or neuter our dogs. We will work with our rescue dogs that need a little help to trust and love people again, meanwhile improving their social behavior. We will stay involved and be there for each adopted dog for the duration of its life.

The adoption fee for our dogs is $300, which includes a veterinary heath examination, up-to-date vaccinations, a micro-chip, dogs will be spayed or neutered, they will come with a dog collar, and ID tag. Senior dog adoption fees will be posted separately for each dog.

If you see a dog on our website that you would like to meet, please fill out the Adoption Application and one of our volunteers will contact you.
