Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Mickey" is an approx 3-yo neutered male longcoated GSD who is very affectionate and rather silly. He is very people-oriented and gets quite excited when meeting new people. He loves to cuddle and be handled. We have yet to have Mickey around children, but he will likely be good with them, other than perhaps being too enthusiastic and possibly knocking over little ones.
Mickey is fine with other dogs, on the submissive side, but really prefers people to canines. We haven't had Mickey around cats, but I would consider Mickey for a home with a cat that is comfortable around large dogs. Mickey weighs approx 63 lbs, but could stand to gain about 5 more lbs.
Mickey is housetrained and well-behaved overall. His worst behavior is that he tends to jump up on new people he meets. His foster caretakers are working with Mickey to overcome this behavior. He walks fairly well on leash--doesn't pull much, but is always interested in checking out various scents, so doesn't exactly heel.
Mickey has not had much formal training, but is quite food-motivated and eager to please. On the other hand, Mickey is not exactly the brightest GSD I've ever met--as already mentioned, he's rather silly. So, if you're looking for a classic, serious, protective GSD, Mickey is not the dog for you. But if you're looking for a sweet, happy-go-lucky dog to be a loyal companion, Mickey fills the bill.
Mickey is in a foster home in Natomas. His adoption fee is $275, which includes a microchip.
