My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE (5/26/15): DUE TO HEART-WORM TREATMENT, OSKAR WILL BE AVAILABLE IN SUMMER 2015

Oskar, or Oskar T. Grouch (Oskar The Grouch) here as my foster mum calls me…

Though I am far from grouchy, even in my older years, but my foster mum finds it funny. So I respond to it.

I was picked up on the streets and taken to the shelter….twice!

The second time I won the golden ticket and got to come into this wonderful rescue and currently reside with my foster mum.

The shelter tested me for heart-worms and it came up positive. It makes me a little more tired in my old age, but my vet says I’m a strong boy. I will start my treatment to get rid of the pesky things.

When I came to the shelter I only weighed 123lbs. You could see my ribs, spine and hip bones and I had a lump by my tail.
Originally, everyone thought it was just an infection pocket from being underweight and being bony by laying on hard surfaces.
Unfortunately, it didn’t go away with antibiotics. It has gotten a little bigger. We recently found out that it’s cancer (sad face). We are not sure what kind or how advanced it is yet.

Once I get done with my heart-worm treatment, I will be neutered while the vet takes my lump off for biopsy.

Now that all that bad news is out of the way, allow me to fill you in on some good news…

I have gained lots of weight and I’m now 135lbs! Who’s up for some hugs?!?! ME, ME, ME! I LOVE to give hugs! Personal space no way! Not when I want to give hugs! Just standing there? HA! I’ll still give you hugs....had a ruff day? Ill give you hugs no questions asked!

I’m a pretty laid back, lazy old man and I have no problems sleeping most of the day away. It doesn’t matter if it’s on my dog bed in the living room, in my kennel, or out sunbathing on a nice day — I’m happy! Usually you can find me sleeping in silly positions like on my back with my paws in the air.

I don’t mind other dogs, no matter what size they are, but I can be very determined and a little pushy when I want to check them out. I get along great with my foster sister who is a fast as lightening Standard Poodle and my foster brother who is an ornery 15 month old Dane Pup. The Pup is one who I like to play with when I’m feeling young. Heck, I let him chew on my lips! I just started to play a little tug o war with an outside toy.

I don’t know about those cats though. My vet has 2 clinic cats that will tease me so mum didn’t let me check them out.

I love humans...age, height, boy, girl —- I love them all!

I love to lean and I lean hard, so I’m sorry if I knock anyone down —- I promise I don’t mean to.

I love to go places but I like to pull on the leash. My mum says it's a work in progress.

I do know how to sit and shake. I’m pretty good at laying down and I will stay but not for very long....heck ill do anything for a treat.
Wow! My paws are tired so I’m going to finish up here and take a dog nap.

But if you have more questions about my story or if you would like to help my rescue with my vet costs please email them. I promise they will get back to you as quick as they can.

Thanks for reading!
