My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MARTY is a 2 year old neutered chocolate male Lab that weighs 48 pounds and should gain about 7 pounds. He is friendly he enjoys being with you. If you’re sitting on the ground he will come get into your lap. He does a nice dance when you pet him on his rump. He likes to be outside exploring the play yards and meeting the other dogs. Just starting to play with toys as he hasn’t had any before now. He would like a family that will give him training, exercise and love. . Good with other dogs Knows some commands sit and come. Pulls a bit on lead at first, better with an Easy Walk Harness. Is keeping his room clean at the shelter so may be house trained.
Marty was a stray who came into the shelter and had a collar that had several links of heavy chain attached. His coat is rough and sun bleached so he was an outside dog. Shelter evaluator said He's a pretty laid back guy, walks easy on leash and is good with other dogs. I took him for a walk the other day using a lasso type leash; I was bending over playing with him and he was in a play bow when he slipped out of the leash and took off running down the road; I called him and he looked back, stopped for a moment and trotted on down the road; of course, I ran after him, called him, he did the pause, look and run thing as if he were playing with me. We went into the woods and I caught my coat in some briars, when I moaned he started towards me, so I whined as if I were hurt and he came up to me as if to make sure I was okay, so I slipped the leash over his head and we headed back to the Shelter. His tail was wagging all the time. Marty is approved for kids ages 10+

Update (8/27): Marty is done with his heartworm rest period tomorrow and is so excited to be able to go on short walks. He loves treats and will do just about anything for them. He is one gorgeous boy and is hoping to move to a foster very soon.

Update (8/22): Marty is ready for his forever home! He is done with his rest time from his HW treatment on 8/28. Everyone at the vets office loves him! He is a gorgeous boy with beautiful eyes. He is looking for a home in a quiet neighborhood.

Update (7/20): Marty is doing great in his foster home. He has settled in nicely. Marty needs to go to a home in a quiet neighborhood as a lot of noise sometimes startles him. He is a love! He loves me and enjoys hanging around my dogs. Marty is doing better with my cats but would do best in a home with no cats. He loves to follow me around the house and enjoys being my companion. He is learning to take treats gently. We are also working on walking on leash and basic manners. He loves to play fang face wrestling with my male Lab. Marty just needs a home where he will be loved and a family that will give him the love, attention and training he deseves.

Update (6/14):Hello everyone from Marty McFly! I did get to go to the pool for my foster brothers swim sessions. Oh my gosh, I just had to go to each of them on the side and tell them to be careful and get out of there. Well, I got so excited I slipped and went in head first while trying to stop and save Clay. I did swim for about 8 ft. and then I grabbed the wall and hung on until FM saved me. I know it was in the shallow end, but I knew I was a goner. I had to continue trying to save Lucky and Clay, but this time I was super careful.I have gained 2.5 lbs. since a week ago. The food is wonderful and I have 3 meals a day to help me get into shape. I also am working with FM on letting her brush me, as my coat needed some real help. I have a lot to relearn and learn along the way FM says but I have conquered sit, wait, and shake also can do down but you have to convince me a little harder on that one, like maybe 2 treats. This forever family had better come and meet me soon. I really am a love and I never get on furniture of any kind, even if I am invited. I know you will love me, cuddle with me and we can have so many adventures together. So as the song says, " I will wait for you".
