My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a standard grey male chinchilla up for adoption. His name is Tytus. Tytus was born around October 2014, making him 7-8 months old.

Tytus was originally purchased from a pet store, but his owner at the time put him in a crittertrail hamster cage. When he chewed his way out multiple times, the owner returned him to the pet store. Not wanting to spend money on an appropriate cage, they left him at the pet store, and one of the employees brought him to the rescue.

Tytus is a typical young chinchilla. He’s very active and spunky. He is super curious and is more outgoing than the average chinchilla that we have here at the rescue. He is not afraid to come up to the front of the cage and see what’s going on, and will come up to you if you have a little patience. He would probably love to have more playtime outside of his cage, if possible. He does well with being handled and petted, and does not bite.

We do not know if Tytus gets along with other chinchillas.

Tytus would make a good “first chinchilla” for someone who has never had one before.

As with all of our chinchillas/rescues, this chinchilla will come with 2 pounds of food to start you out (Mazuri pellets), a baggies of chews, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also offer a variety of other supplies for sale, including cages (new and used), chew toys, hidey houses, and much more.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

Tytus is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324).

The adoption fee for Tytus would normally be $125, but due to our May Madness sale, this month he’s up for adoption for $100.
