Quincy is a happy, friendly, people-loving, 5-year-old male Pug/Chihuahua mix rescued from the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter. He weighs about 11 lbs. His head is black, while the rest of his coat is primarily white with black speckles. He has adorable stubby legs, a thick neck, and a chubby physique that just translates to ADORABLE. His fosters refer to him as their “jacket potato” when he has on his little jacket that he wears for walks on cool nights. Quincy gets along with the two other dogs in his foster home, particularly a 18 lb. female Beagle-mix, but given a choice he would much rather be in the company of his favorite people. He can be placed in a home with other dogs or as an only dog in the home, and he is such an easy going, good natured dog, that he can easily tag along, rather than sitting around at home for long periods. He appears cat friendly, and it is not uncommon for him to share lap space with one of the foster home’s four cats (two of whom are nearly twice his size!). He is calm and quiet on his own, but will join in when the other dogs bark at human and canine passers-by during walks or when a visitor comes to the door, although he is quick to settle down. He enjoys being petted and held by new people, quick to wag his tail and lick an offered hand.

Quincy will play energetically on occasion, and particularly enjoys “thrashing” squeaky toys, but seems to prefer the attention of people to that of other dogs, and will just as soon nap at his human’s feet, or snuggle up on a lap or couch, or be contentedly carried around by his person like a football. He appears to bond quickly with new people, and likes to be included in the action, keeping his humans company wherever they go. In short, Quincy is a very sweet, good-natured, happy, cuddle-bug of a dog. He is great companion dog.

Quincy is crate-trained and house-trained, though potty-training reinforcement is needed to adjust to any new environment. He seems eager to please and responds well to gentle correction. He sleeps throughout the night without issue, preferring a small pet bed next to the other dogs, and he often shares the same bed with the female Beagle-mix. He is an excellent leash walker (unlike his foster home companions, he does not pull or crisscross and tangle up his human in the leash!); though it would be advisable to use a Martingale collar or secure harness for walks. He rides quietly in the car in a small travel crate, and seems to have no problems with car-sickness. He has not demonstrated any separation anxiety or destructive tendencies when left alone in the house, though of course observation is always warranted when a dog is adjusting to a new place.

Quincy is neutered, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. He has also had a complete vet check including bloodwork.
