Gus - IN TRAINING's Story...
If you are looking for a mild mannered big ole’ boy to cuddle with and are okay with kisses, then I’m the guy for you!! I love people and want to be near you all time, even to cuddle. I know I will make a great dog for the right person!! I need an active family because I LOVE to be outdoors and stay active. On August 14th I will be paroled from the RPSM Correctional Companion Program where I am learning my basic commands. I have learned to Sit, Stand, Down, Swing, and Finish all with verbal commands. I’m currently being taught to sit and wait at the door until given the OK to go in or out of the housing unit, get my leash put on, and before I meet people. With a regular walking routine I have been very calm and relaxed. I sleep well through the night and wait patiently on my place – my bed - until my trainers are ready to take me out for my morning potty. I have caught on to heeling very well. When I first arrived in prison, I was a little hesitant to go into the swimming pool but I have since conquered that fear and will walk in on my own. I get along very well with the other dogs and have found many new friends here. I will do the best in a home of a family that is familiar with dogs and dog behavior. I need a person to be my pack leader and give me boundaries. If your family does not have good dog knowledge it will best for me to go to a home with no other dogs. You see, I don’t like to share my toys or bones and this could get me into trouble. With a correction and a watchful eye I do well, but left to my own devices with other dogs, toys and bones there will be trouble. If you think you could be my pack leader, please submit your adoption application today.

I’m neutered and UTD on all my vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of my own. RPSM recommends children 6 years and older. I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $250.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gus - IN TRAINING, a Coldwater Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Coldwater, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Coldwater.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Coldwater already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Coldwater breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Coldwater paves the way for another one to be saved.
