Tillie's Story...
Arrival story:Tillie was rescued from a shelter where she was for 2 months! Her time was running out until Waggin' Tails rescued her.

Approximate age: 3-4 years old and about 40 lbs.

Personality: Tillie is just settling into her foster home, but so far she is great. She rides well in the car, knows sit, shake, and plays fetch perfectly! She also enjoys biting at the water from the hose for some fun. She isn't too fond of baths or being restrained, but she loves a good rub down and is a little shadow following me around everywhere. So far she's been super quiet and has had a few potty accidents, but nothing major. Tillie just went into heat because her past owners did not spay her, so she'll have to wait to be spayed for a couple of weeks, but in the meantime we will continue to learn about her and post as new things occur.

Forever home: TBD

Pre-Adoption Application::

To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to sashnmax@yahoo.com.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at PetSmart in Northville (on Haggerty Rd between 6 and 7 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tillie, a Northville Hound (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) for sale in Northville, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Northville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Northville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Northville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Northville paves the way for another one to be saved.
