My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tucker is a Special Adoption, please read bio in full:

This adorable lab is a special adoption. He is as sweet as they come. Tucker was rescued from a high kill shelter and typical of his breed, is a happy guy! He loves people - Tucker is all about people. He is looking for a home where someone is home more often than not. Tucker loves his people so much that he tends to get anxious when they're away from him for long periods at a time. Whomever adopts our sweet boy needs to be in touch with our trainer to help him through the transition and to help with some anxiety issues he has when left alone. He really is a wonderful dog. Come in anytime to meet him!

The SPCA of Westchester works hard to find permanent homes for our adoptable dogs. Families interested in dogs listed as “Special Adoptions” will work with our trainer to insure that the adoption is the correct placement for that dog. During this time, the dog’s bio will still appear on PetFinder, marked “Adoption Pending”. If another family is interested in that dog, they can fill out an adoption application and leave it for the trainer. In the event that the adoption does not work out, the next application received will be considered as the next potential candidate. The trainer will only work with one family at a time that she deems is a valid candidate for that adoption. Thank you for your understanding.

Unless noted differently above, you can come in anytime during our hours to meet and/or adopt! Our hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday's 1pm-4pm. No appointment necessary. Our address is 590 North State Road in Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510. We do same day adoptions pending approval. To obtain an Adoption Application, please copy and paste the following link into your computer browser: http://www.spca914.org/forms/dogadopt2015.doc or email Lisa@spca914.org. You may also visit our website at www.spca914.org or just fill out an Application when you get here.

Please note, we do NOT hold animals, nor do we accept deposits in advance. Even if you have discussed coming in to meet an animal or have an approved Application with us this does not necessarily guarantee you will get that particular puppy or dog. Also note, even if approved to adopt from us, if you have a dog(s) at home they MUST meet the dog(s) you are interested in adopting from here to ensure they get along before you can officially adopt. All Dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (age appropriate) and come with a free 7 day Veterinarian check from a participating Vet!

High Kill Shelter/Southern Rescues, both Puppies and Adults are $350, All Puppies are $350 and Local Stray Adults over 1 year of age are $200-$350. Seniors and Lonely Hearts Club members are $75. Please visit: http://www.spca914.org/adoptanimal.htm to read our Adoption Policy and Procedures in full.
