My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BAILEY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!Pal's Place would love to introduce to you one of our newest rescues, Bailey! Bailey is a very handsome, easy-gentle, quiet and well behaved 5-7 year old Shepherd mix in need of a loving family. This guy weighs 75 pounds, but is quite tall. Despite his larger size, Bailey is one of the most gentle, unassuming pups we've ever come across. He's been a little down on his luck lately and he'd love to get back into a loving and caring forever home soon! Bailey was originally adopted from a humane society in Kentucky when he was a young dog. His owner's loved and cared for him for several years but unfortunately earlier this year they fell on hard times and could no longer afford to care for him. Bailey ended up in another kill shelter in Kentucky, through no fault of his own, for the second time. Bailey was at the shelter for several weeks and then he was discovered to have a mild heartworm infection, greatly reducing his chance of adoption or rescue. He was given only a few more days to find rescue or else the open-intake, over-burdened shelter was going to have to euthanize Bailey to make room for the constant stream of homeless animals coming through their door. A Shepherd lover with Pal's Place Rescue heard this guy's plight and he was immediately brought up to our foster program in Chicago. Bailey is now being cared for by a loving and nurturing foster mom, but he'd really love to meet his new family soon. Bailey can be a little timid when first meeting new people, but he warms up quickly. Like most Shepherds, he's a very loyal dog that bonds closely to his people. He's very quiet and well behaved in the home. He's crate trained, house trained and reliable and not destructive when left alone with free run of the home. Bailey is also being fostered with several other dogs and does well with everyone. He's started his heartworm treatment, which will span over a few months. Bailey can go to his new home and being his new life, provided his new owners agree to make sure Bailey is returned for a few more follow up appointments with our partner vet clinic in Aurora, IL. Bailey's heartworm treatment will be 100% covered by Pal's Place Rescue. He's also neutered, mircochipped and up to date with vaccines. Bailey, like most middle aged Shepherds is showing some mild arthritis in his rear legs. He gets around just fine though and stairs present no problem for this big fellow, but he is on glucosamine supplements to help support his joints. This handsome and well behaved boy will make a great companion for any household in search of a loyal, mellow and gentle companion to spend their days with!

• Bailey's adoption donation is $275. This donation helps to cover his neuter initial vaccines, initial worming, microchip and any other necessary medical while in our care. Pal's Place relies solely on donations to care for the pets in our care. Your donation also helps save other animals like Bailey from euthanasia.
