My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Gracie. I am a silver, 4-5 year old, female Schnauzer, about 20 lbs.

My early life was not so good. I lived in a cage in a puppy mill and was used to produce lots of puppies. I didn’t get any care or attention from people. And they weren’t very nice to me. So I am really afraid of people.

Since coming into rescue, I am learning. At first I ran from my foster mom. Now I want to be near her. But I am still afraid to be touched. I’ve learned about soft beds and good food. My crate is a safe place but sometimes I go in the wrong crate. Mom is trying to teach me to potty outside but I don’t get it yet. So I wear a diaper in the house. I am still afraid of strangers and of loud noises or voices.

I love going outside and running the fenced yard. Playing with other dogs is fun, too. I can walk on a leash if you don’t push me too hard. I enjoy going for walks in the park, especially with another dog from my foster home. I go to the vet and groomer who know about dogs like me, and I’ve learned to let them work with me. I am now spayed, UTD on shots, and heartworm free.

I want a forever home with people who will be patient and understand my problems. They should have experience in working with puppy mill survivors like me. I need time and love to become the dog I was meant to be. I would need a fenced yard and would like at least one other dog to play with. Because of my history I can not go to a home with children under 18.

My adoption fee is $300. I am being fostered by Kathi in Cincinnati.
