Calista's Story...
Calista, a calico/tabby with gorgeous green eyes. Calista is a very sweet and talkative cat who loves to be petted. She follows you around chattering at you, and likes your company. She's very gentle and calm. She's also a very devoted mother, always snuggling with her babies. She's not particularly playful and would make a very nice cat for someone who wants a docile, tranquil companion.

Calista was a pregnant stray cat enduring the brutal winter of Chicago when she was found in January. A local family was kind enough to feed her, and to let her live on their back porch and basement. But they were going to move soon, and couldn't take her along. So we stepped in and arranged for both veterinary care and a foster home. Calista gave birth to five beautiful kittens on February 12, 2014. Sadly, the tiniest one died shortly after birth, and another died a month later. But the remaining three are did very well and were adopted quickly.

Calista has been waiting over a year to find her forever home. Please share her story or apply to adopt her today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Calista, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
